PSG interested in making shock move for Man United forward Rashford

Paris Saint-Germain have an interest in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, talkSPORT understands.

However, the Red Devils are yet to receive any formal approach from the French champions for Rashford.

The French champions are keeping tabs on the Man United and England forward

This comes after PSG head coach Christophe Galtier said at a press conference on Thursday that he intends to sign a new striker this summer, with Mauro Icardi and Arnaud Kalimuendo expected to leave the club.

“We will sign a new striker, as we’re looking to find a solution for Mauro Icardi and also Kalimuendo will join Rennes,” said Galtier, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Rashford has been with Man United since he was seven years old and a departure from Old Trafford would be a very surprising move.

However, the Red Devils could face the prospect of losing the 24-year-old on a free transfer with his contract set to expire in June 2023 but there is an option for the deal to be extended by a further year.

Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for a new forward amid the uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Alvaro Morata the latest name to be linked with the club.

Rashford played in Man United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton last weekend and struggled for composure in front of goal.

But after a difficult couple of seasons Rashford has had a spring in his step during the summer under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Speaking about Ten Hag’s impact on him and fellow forwards Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial, Rashford said in July: “He just wants us to be positive.

“He wants us to do everything in a positive manner, so for us it means a lot of forward runs, a lot of interchanging positions, trying to link with each other on the ball.

“It’s fun to play in, we’re enjoying it, so hopefully we can kick on and perform these type of performances come the season.”

Rashford is set to feature in Man United’s second league match of the season as they travel to Brentford on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, PSG begun their Ligue 1 title defence with a 5-0 trouncing of Clermont Foot. Lionel Messi scored twice, while Neymar, Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos also netted.
