Liverpool’s outgoing sporting director Michael Edwards is on Paris Saint-Germain’s shortlist to take a similar role, according to reports.
The French club are said to be looking at options to replace their current chief, Leonardo, who is under serious pressure following PSG’s latest Champions League failure.
After more than ten years at Anfield, Edwards announced in November 2021 that he would be stepping down from his position at the club.
He was integral to Liverpool’s recruitment process and played a vital role in building Jurgen Klopp’s current team, helping the club sign many of their key players including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and many others.
And, because of that, PSG are keen on securing his services, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Their report states that Leonardo, the Parisians’ current sporting director, is expected to leave at the end of the season.
His anticipated departure comes after another poor season in the Champions League in which they capitulated against Real Madrid and were dumped out at the last-16 stage.
Whilst Edwards hasn’t announced his decision, there is plenty of interest in him, and understandably so having played such a key role in helping Liverpool win their sixth Champions League title and first Premier League crown in 30 years.

Edwards isn’t the only name on PSG’s shortlist for the sporting director role.
Andrea Berta from Atletico Madrid, Giovanni Rossi of Sassuolo, Hugo Viana from Sporting Lisbon are also being considered.
Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici – who was only brought to the north London in June 2021 – is also rumoured to be a contender for the role in the French capital.
Should PSG bring in Edwards it could represent a major coup as he is not only an expert in spotting talent, but also getting serious bang for his club’s buck when it comes to play sales money for sales – as exhibited when Phillipe Coutinho was sold to Barcelona for £142million in January 2018.
