Wolves have signed Portugal international Goncalo Guedes from Valencia in a move that has been described as ‘absolutely fantastic’.
talkSPORT understands the 25-year-old has joined the Premier League side in a £27.5million, with Bruno Lage bolstering his attacking options with another Portuguese star.
A winger who can also play as a centre-forward, Guedes has spent the past five seasons in LaLiga after departing Paris Saint-Germain as a highly-rated prospect.
“We have been monitoring Goncalo for a long time and are very pleased to welcome him to Wolves,” said chairman Jeff Shi.
“He has natural talent and has performed very well across Europe and for his country, and we think he is well suited to the Premier League.
“We are always looking to improve the squad with high quality, and have been patient to make sure we got the right player.
“Goncalo worked with Bruno at Benfica and played with many members of our squad previously, so we’re confident he will settle quickly into the group here.
“Very few transfers are ever straightforward, and this was no exception, with a number of clubs trying to secure the player right up until the last minute.

“Now, we are delighted that Goncalo is a Wolves player and look forward to giving him a warm welcome at Molineux this Saturday.”
Wolves lost their Premier League opener 2-1 against Leeds with striker Raul Jimenez out injured, and the club have so far had a quiet summer window.
Defender Nathan Collins has joined from Burnley in a £20.5m move, replacing captain Conor Coady who looks set to join Everton.
The club also made a loan deal for striker Hee-chan Hwang permanent by paying Leipzig £15m, but the Korean struggled to make an impact against Leeds with Wolves hard up in front of goal.
Only relegated trio Burnley, Watford and Norwich scored fewer goals than Wolves’ 38 last season, with Guedes, who has seven goals in 32 games for Portugal, hoping to up that tally.
Guedes rose to prominence after graduating from Benfica’s academy and impressing for the first team, earning him a €30m move to PSG, who fought off interest from Manchester United.
Although things didn’t work out in France, Guedes still has a big reputation in Spain, as confirmed by talkSPORT’s European expert Andy Brassell.
He explained: “For Wolves I think Guedes will be absolutely fantastic, they need that little bit of extra bang up front, maybe they could be in a bit of trouble if they’re not scoring goals.
“He’s someone who can play as a striker or as a winger, lightning quick, on his day as good as it gets.”
