Newcastle 2 Nottingham Forest 0 – Saturday 6 August (3pm)
(ED: Chuks is eleven years old, another great article from him.)
At 12.30 on Friday afternoon we got a train from Kings Cross to come up to Newcastle for the first game and it was ok, I guess. There isn’t a lot to do on a train so it was an ok train journey but a bit boring.
We arrived at Newcastle and it was ok, we stayed over at someone else’s house which was alright. We ate pizza and it was nice, the people were really nice and I had a good sleep.
Next day it was matchday and it was alright because I had pancakes in Wetherspoons and saw loads of people in black and white shirts. We soon after got a bus into the city centre and we got the new away shirt the white and green one, and it fit great, but I couldn’t get Bruno and 39 on it because of my stupid dad.
We also met Robbie at Pacific bar and his young mates from Wallsend and Forest Hall, who I have met at away games, and they were kind to us. We watched some of the Liverpool game and said what the Newcastle score would be.
We went to the Beehive in the Bigg Market and it was a very nice small bar. We saw Tony and we also got Brighton tickets and I was given some pin badges which were great.
We then went to the ground but stopped off for another drink and saw some Nottingham Forest lads. We shook hands with them.
We then went to the food bank and we saw Steve and my dad gave them some money and we had a great chat with him.
We then went to the match and we saw a boring first half, Forest defending for their lives, though there was a great atmosphere, compared to the Forest fans.
We also saw Schar’s wonder goal in front of us and it was spectacular! We then saw another great goal by Callum Wilson.
We got out of the ground with people singing and chanting. We then went to the Strawberry and had a quick drink!
We went back to where we were staying and we soon went to the Lebanese restaurant and then I went back to watch Match of the Day, while my dad went out and got drunk two times in two days. And we then got on a train for the journey home.
