Klopp reveals Liverpool transfer conversations and full extent of Thiago injury

Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool have considered going back into the transfer market amid an injury crisis at the club.

The Reds manager revealed midfielder Thiago Alcantara will be out for four to six weeks after limping out of the 2-2 draw with Fulham on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The Spaniard is set for a spell on the sidelines

Thiago joins Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the treatment room, while Naby Keita is easing his way back from injury.

Liverpool’s current midfield shortage has led to many calling for the Reds to sign reinforcements, although Klopp has insisted there will be no more incomings at Anfield this summer.

The German admits that while the injury to Thiago has changed the situation, the unlikelihood of new signings remains the same.

He said: “I’m happy with the strength and quality of my squad. But we have injuries, that’s how it is.

“The question is how long the players are out and there are different solutions. One is transfer market, but only makes sense if the right player.

“All the other solutions are inside the squad, we definitely have too many injuries that is clear. Naby will be back on Monday. Kostas [Tsimikas] will train today for first time, might be back.

“If we had the right solution then we would have done it already. We are not stubborn.

“If we look at the right player and there would have been opportunity, then we would do it and would have done it. We have had a lot of conversations but it doesn’t look like (it will happen).”
