Diogo Jota has signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool tying him to the club until 2027.
The former Wolves striker was handed a new deal at the club as reward for his impressive start to life at Anfield since arriving in 2020.
Jota has seamlessly fit into Jurgen Klopp’s set up at Anfield with the 25-year-old notching 34 goals in his 85 Liverpool appearances and he spoke of his delight at agreeing a new deal.
“Well, [I’m] really proud, I have to say,” Jota told Liverpoolfc.com after putting pen to paper on his extension.
“Obviously since I arrived two years ago I established myself as an important player in this team – that’s what I wanted from the beginning.
“Now, signing a new long-term deal, it’s obviously from the club’s perspective proof of the belief in myself as a player. For me, obviously it’s really good to establish I’ll be here for a while.
“So, the beginning of a new season, let’s do it.”
Liverpool boss Klopp also weighed in with his thoughts on the renewal and is delighted to see Jota extend his stay on Merseyside.

He added: “What Diogo has brought to this team and this club since he arrived is there for all to see, so it is really good news that he has signed a new contract.
“Brilliant, brilliant news, I would say.
“I have said before that Diogo is the player we hoped he would be but also a little bit better, so long may this continue.”
Jota is currently on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury and will miss Liverpool’s opening game of the season against Fulham this weekend but despite that, the Portuguese is eager to return to help his team-mates achieve more success this term.
“Unfortunately for me I had an upset in this pre-season because I got injured [in the] last game of the season playing with Portugal,” he added. “So I was coming back in this pre-season, I felt it a little bit again. So it will be a few more weeks, I would say.
He continued: “When you fight for everything, like we did last year, you just want to do it again and to do it better, because it’s possible.
“That drive is in me and I know it’s in my teammates and all the staff. We have everything to fight for those titles out there.”
