Ex-Liverpool star bites back as Fulham make cheeky dig at Klopp’s excuse for draw

Fulham had a cheeky dig at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on social media and their comment clearly got to one former Red.

The Merseysiders were held to a shock 2-2 draw by newly promoted Fulham, with last year’s title contenders going behind twice in the clash.

But leaving west London with only a point wasn’t the only thing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was unhappy with.

“The attitude was not right in the beginning, then we wanted to fight back, but you don’t find it easy any more,” he said.

Then, the German went on to add: “The pitch was dry, stuff like this.”

But unlike Craven Cottage’s turf, it turns out Fulham’s Twitter admin has a far from dry sense of humour, as they pounced on Klopp’s post-match comments to make a cheeky dig.

“The Craven Cottage turf looking absolutely lush yesterday,” the club posted alongside a picture of the sprinklers getting Craven Cottage’s pitch match ready.

But whilst Fulham fans and neutrals were lapping up the swipe at Saturday’s opponents, ex-Liverpool star Jose Enrique bit back on behalf of his former club.

“Already taking the p*** after just 1 game?” the Spaniard asked, responding to Fulham’s tweet.

“When you are relegated at the end of the season we will laugh then.”

Let’s revisit this one – and Enrique’s Twitter – at the end of the season…
