Chelsea push for ex-Arsenal star Aubameyang as Tuchel considers him ‘perfect’ striker

Chelsea are pushing to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, according to reports.

The forward only joined the Catalan giants in January after being allowed to leave Arsenal on a free transfer.

Aubameyang could be leaving Barcelona after just six months

Fast forward six months, and he could be heading back to the Premier League already.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Thomas Tuchel is pushing Todd Boehly to sign the Gabon international.

He is said to consider Aubameyang the ‘perfect’ striker, but Barca are yet to receive an official bid.

The Telegraph claim that Chelsea officials met their Barcelona counterparts on Tuesday.

Aubameyang is said to be happy in Spain, but would listen to proposals from Chelsea.

The Blues are in need of reinforcements up front following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Raheem Sterling has joined from Man City, but Tuchel will want more additions before the transfer window closes.

The 33-year-old has shown he can cut it in the Premier League, scoring 68 league goals in 128 games.

He won a share of the Golden Boot in the 2018/19 season and also captained the Gunners to the FA Cup that season.

Aubameyang was given the captains armband by Mikel Arteta, but ended up being stripped of it two years later for various discipline issues.

The new Amazon All or Nothing documentary reveals the moment Arteta told the squad what had happened.

That signalled the end of his career at the Emirates, with the decision eventually taken to mutually terminate his contract so he could join Barca.

He scored 13 goals in 23 games in all competitions for his new club, but has seen himself fall down the pecking order during the summer.
