Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs starlets feature as Murphy names three kids to watch

Ex-Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy has tipped three young starlets to shine in the top-flight this season.

Just like the rest of us, former Liverpool man loves seeing a wonderkid come to the fore and has singled out a trio to watch.

Martinelli is part of an electric Arsenal

The first is Gabriel Martinelli, 21, who scored in the Gunners’ 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace and looks set for a consistent run of games following a long-term injury.

“The first one would be Martinelli at Arsenal,” Murphy said.

“He’s had injury problems, people know about his talent, but I think he could be a really good source of goals.

“Wherever he plays, he always ends up in good positions. he got the goal on Friday.

“He’s got the ability to make goals for himself. If he stays fit, he could be a key player for him.”

Murphy’s second tip is Fabio Carvalho, 19, who signed for Liverpool from Fulham in a £7.7million deal earlier this summer and made his Premier League debut against the Whites at Craven Cottage as a substitute in the 2-2 draw.

He believes the Portuguese starlet could feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side more than expected after bagging ten goals in the Championship last term.

“The other one is Carvalho from Fulham,” Murphy added. “A lot of people might not have watched the Championship last year but he was in double figures for goals.

“This lad is a talent. People have talked about losing [Sadio] Mane, how [Darwin] Nunez will do, whether [Luis[ Diaz can continue his form… I think we’ll see Carvalho used more than you think.

“He’s got that wonderful balance to go past people, he glides past people. He’s only small but he’s got that great low centre of gravity.

“He is a great bit of business for Liverpool.”

Meanwhile, the last of the three is Ryan Sessegnon, 22, who scored his first top-flight goal for Spurs after three difficult years at the club and looks like a player transformed under manager Antonio Conte during the 4-1 victory over Southampton.

Murphy continued: “The other one, and probably the strongest performer from the weekend, is Sessegnon at Spurs.

“He looks a real physical specimen and I’m sure Conte has had something to do with this.

“He’s always had the technical gift, sweet left foot, good skill and he can dribble.

“But he looked powerful, hungry and confident. That’s the combination you want.

“People think [Ivan] Perisic is going to walk into the side ahead of him but Spurs have a lot of games and if he plays like he did at the weekend, nobody will be walking in ahead of him.”
